My Hits & Misses!

Oh the ups & downs of being a beauty consumer! There are times when we pick up a random blush for a couple dollars & it unexpectedly ends up being our favorite go-to cheek color! Then we have times when we wait & save up for the most anticipated "must have" of the season, & it ends up being a total piece of garbage! We've all been there. I've collected some of my biggest favorites & some of my biggest disappointments lately. Lol I was considering doing just a [Favorites] post because I hate being negative but some of these really let me down! & I must vent!!

_______________________________________________________________

The Hits ♥
1.) Wet n Wild's Petal Pusher: After being lightweight let down by "Blue Had Me At Hello", I wasn't really planning on picking up anymore of the 8-pan palettes. The blues were kind of hard to blend for me & I thought I would probably get "Comfort Zone" but not this one. I decided to give it a try anyway & I love it. I literally love every color in this. The shadows are soft & the quality is perfect.

2.) Orly's Oh Cabana Boy: Ahhh I love this color! It's a hot pink with a blue undertone that's more obvious IRL. When I first saw it, I thought "Cotton Candy!" lol & for some reason I expected that to be the name of the polish when I turned it over lol. The application is great! The pic above is two coats & was 2 days ago & I haven't had any chipping yet. An obvious hit for me! <3

3.) Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls 3D in Translucent Pearl: My hands down HG face highlighter. I was on the hunt for a powder highlighter for my cheekbones (that's really the only place I highlight) now that summer's coming up. This powder gives off a great glow without being too much. It makes the face look really healthy & I love the way it smells. + The packaging is adorable! It also has a little pearl at the top lol so pretty. (:

4.) Pond's Clarant B3 Moisturizer: It's a dark spot correcting moisturizer that's supposed to even skin tones in 2 weeks & reduces the appearance of dark spots in 4 weeks. I don't use it for this. I just use it as my everyday face moisturizer before I put on my makeup & after cleansing before I go to sleep. It doesn't clog the pores & it does wonders under my eyes. I love it!

Before & After using Shampoo [4 wks]
5.) Regis Designline Silver Shine Shampoo: This shampoo saved my life recently lol. When I dyed my hair blonde, I was left with an ugly ugly yellow-orangy color. My cousin gave me this shampoo that they had recommended to her when her highlights came out brassy. The bottle says "helps to neutralize brassy & yellow tones on grey & blonde hair" & I used it all last month, everyday after using my regular shampoo. I'd leave it in for about 5 mins before rinsing it out. I loveee it! I'm so glad my hair didn't stay looking like Cheetara lol I don't have to use it anymore.

6.) Urban Decay's Naked Palette: Now I'm not a big sucker for neutral shadows. In fact, I think they're quite boring lol I don't know what made me want to jump on the Naked bandwagon but I eventually did & I'm actually glad I did. lol I love this palette & I think the colors (although neutral) are actually really unique & so gorgeous. Even the matte colors like Naked & Buck are so pretty to me. I've been reaching for this a lot since I got it. I love it.. I just didn't love the steepish price. Lol

_______________________________________________________________

The Misses! :c
1.) Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat in Antique Gold: Okay before you freak out. Let me explain myself! lol I really really really wanted the black one but when I got to Walgreens when they came out, it was already sold out. :c So I thought maybe the gold would be okay. This was the only color I got from the set & the picture above was like my 10th try doing this & it came out decent, at best. =/ The polish is very sheer & you can't see the cracks. You literally have to apply the whole glop of polish to get a thick layer & have some crackle (like the pic above). That's the most crackle I could get out of it & it's not what I expected. I wanted it to look as good as the China glaze & OPI ones but no such luck. It's not the worst polish, I just feel like for a $7 nail polish, we shouldn't have to work so hard to get the effect that it advertises on. If anyone wants this, I'll send it to you lol I get so mad when I look at it. I still want the black one though. I've seen some reviews that bash the silver & gold ones but love the regular ones. So I'm thinking maybe the #fail in this has to do with whatever they use to make the polish shimmer.

2.) Milani Even-Tone Powder Foundation (01 Shell): I really had high hopes for this. The product feels sooooo silky & feels just amazing on the skin. The color matched me exactly!! Which is amazing 'cause I have the worst time trying to find my color in any foundation/powder. I'm light-skinned but most of the fair foundations/powders have pink undertones & mine are yellow. So I was really excited about this one until I put it on my face. It's extremely sheer. I guess this would be good as a setting powder. But one of the main things I look for is coverage. I loveee a flawless matte face. This offered the matte but not the flawless lol If I try to build it up for coverage, it starts to look a bit ashey & powdery. So although this has the potential to be a great powder for other girls.. it's a big fat MISS for me. =/

3.) MAC Violet Trance Eyeshadow: I got this awhile back at The Cosmetic Company Store where they sell discontinued or hard to find MAC stuff. I was really excited to try it. I have such a big thing for purple eyeshadows. I love the way they look on brown eyes. So anyway! This shadow's initially came out like 2 years ago, it's from the Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection, it's a matte shadow. *Sigh* So it sounds & looks so perfect but I was so disapointed when I tried to swatch it. No, ladies.. You don't have to adjust your screen settings. That is not a smudge you see above.. that is all I could get when I swatched Violet Trance. It's sooooo sheer & to its defense, it is buildable! & Eventually, after a crapload of rubbing & rubbing & rubbing your brush into the shadow.. you will be able to build the color up. It just didn't seem worth it, at all to me. I lightly swatched some WnW shadows from the Lust palette to show the difference. When I'm paying 3-4 times more money for an eyeshadow.. I expect the color payoff to be better. Call me crazy! I guess I just payed for the brand. *tear*

4.) Crest 3D White Strips (2 Hour Express): Yes, I too fed into the hype of these. :c Can I just say though, for the record.. This is the Mother of all misses. This is the worst thing that has ever crossed paths with me all year. I can't even remember a time I was more in pain than after I took these strips off. I wish I would've read the HONEST reviews on these before I tried them. The only reviews I had seen on these strips were those by Youtube gurus =/ & after trying them myself.. I'm convinced they were lying or didn't leave them on for two hours. I took these off at around 7pm & didn't get any sleep til around 6am. I stayed up all night in agonizing pain & crying. (Thank God I have such a wonderful boyfriend btw) The pain was far beyond just sensitivity. My teeth hurt inside & out & didn't let up at all. I couldn't even open my mouth because the air hurt. I don't recommend these to ANYONE.. besides the fact that they hurt like hell. I noticed zero change in my smile. All the reviews from normal people (non-youtube gurus) that I've seen, have had the same bad experience I did. I don't even know how this product is still out. It really should be banned. It's absolutely horrible!

Sorry to end on such a negative note lol Welp! I hope everyone had an awesome weekend!! ♥
Thanks for reading!!

OMG!! I HATE those white stipes.. well actually all whiting srips, like I have them on for 10 minutes and I can already tell they're gonna be trouble, I start getting like a sharp shooting feeling in my teeth, super weird...

Im not a fan of the shatter/crakle polish thing.. mostly because I bite my nails on the daily.. lol..

and your hair looks great! I love that shampoo!! I use to get my hair done at Regis(or however u spell it :) ) and I would get it there, but since my hair dresser got her own shop I started using Shimmer Lighst (another purple shampoo) and I just keep using it.. its SUPPOSE to help "refresh" blonde hair :)

oh and I wanna try that highlighter!

Anyway... love this post!
I think you should do more of these :)

Nice review of both the good and the bad. It's good you mentioned the bad as well, so people won't find out the hard way and waste their money. I love Physician's Formula, and am tempted to get the highlighter. I'd love to see it on your face, like with it and without it on, to see the difference. I'm from the states, but studying abroad at the moment. So to ask a friend or relative to bring it for me, would be kind of a problem, unless I was certain it would do something for me.

Oh thats horrible about the whitening strips! I've never heard that they hurt before! I was going to get them for myself!

And that Naked palette looks awesome! Love the neutrals!

Thanks for the heads up about that shampoo! I am going medium brown with lighter highlights and sometimes get that brassy tent when I do. That Orly polish is amazing! I haven't tried those 2 hour crest strips (only the 30 minute ones) glad I didn't spend all the money to try it because I have sensitive teeth! The 30 minute ones do pretty good but they do the same for me as the cheap 5 minute whitening system. XX

I love the Naked palette so much, it's like a family member lol As far as the whitening system, try their toothpastes, they really do work if you use them once a day (in combo w your regular toothpaste) for a week or two :DDD

Great review!! That Physicians Formula highlighter is gorgeous. I still cannot find that UD palette anywhere!! I'm kinda sad about it lol. I am sad that the Gold polish didn't work for you. I really wanted that one but I have heard nothing but bad things about that color. I have teh black one and it looks nothing like that, it crackled really well. I would get your money back, Walgreens has a awesome return policy. As for the whitening strips, I use the normal ones and those hurt my teeth after a few uses, I can't imagine leaving those on for 2 hours. Again, great honest reviews, love it :)

I love these kind of posts. You got some great stuff and some really bad ones too. :(
I'm sorry to hear about the pain you were in with the whitestrips, I've heard of this happening before so I've never tried them because they're kind of expensive and I have pretty sensitive teeth.
The Orly Nail polish is so pretty.
And I heard the Sally Hansen Crackle polishes sucked. For $7, geez, I can get me a China Glaze one at Sally's :)

Uh-Oh now I don't think I want to try the white strips now. I think I'll stick to the toothpastes.lol

Yuri: Ahh I know what you mean. The shooting pain that makes your eyes water lol.. just sucks. Lol I bite mine too but I really like the way the shatter ones look ;( Yeah, purple shampoos seem to be a great lifesaver, your hair always looks great! & thank you!!

Fatema: Thanks girl! & I'll try to do that for you. I like it because it's not too shimmery or overpowering.

Jess: I know! ;( I've tried the generic brand 15-30 min ones. But the 7 day treatments seemed so long for me lol The nuetrals really are very pretty, right? Thanks so much for reading Jess ^.^

Jacenda: Thanks so much for stopping by! Lol yeah shampoos like this do wonders for that problem. (: Yeha I think I'll go back to my generic 30 min whitening strips too lol

Maryam: Thanks for the tip! Hahaha Soo true, the palette really is amazing!

Froggiestyle73: Thank you so much! The hilighter really is awesome ;P The price is kind of pushing it for me though. next time I think I'll wait for a coupon or something lol. Aww have you checked Sephora? That sucks.. I think you can get it online too. I'm not sure though. Ahhh great news! I was really hoping the black crackle would be different! Thank goodness, I'll definitley get it now! (if they ever stock up again) lol Thanks so much for reading, girl <3

Leslie: Lol nonsense! I love your shadow application. You're very good at it. & I knowwww.. I hate going home & discovering that my new foundation doesn't match. -____-

Alesandra: Thanks so much, girl! It has like a purplish/blue tint to it IRL which I thought was pretty cool. Yeah I've heard very few good reviews on the new crackle polishes. I knooww! My Sally's is forever out of the China Glaze crackle though. ;( Thanks for reading :P

Jenny: Lol sounds like a good idea >.<

Forever92: Haha yeah! I loveeee drugstore makeup. I think there's alot out there that can really compete with the high end stuff. Girl, yes.. Sadly I'm starting to think the same thing about some YT gurus!

VintageMakeup: Thank you!! I'll try lol I just hardly buy stuff that's not makeup. ;(

Many.Faces.In.Pink: Awww, Thanks so much for your feedback K ^.^

Lisa: <3 I replied to you asap on your blog lol

Lindsie Lee: Thank you! Ahh I thought so too. Pinks in general are pretty.. but this one really catches yoru eye, right? Thanks so much Lindsie <3

Annie: Yess it's a really good moisturizer. I got it at HEB but I don't think you're from Texas.. *checks* okay no lol But I've seen them at WalMart too! <3 I freak out if I see any little line on my face lol

Kathy: Thanks! I called but they seemed really busy (I was on hold for a long time when they transferred the call) so I hung up. I understand you offer refunds on the product, so if that's what you were offering.. thanks! But I threw out the product & don't have my receipt anymore & I understand that sensitivity is normal. But I was in intense pain for 10+ hours. I should note that the pain went away after about 15 hours & I felt mild sensitivity for the rest of the day & that too, eventually went away. Thanks for being attentive though.. But I won't be using this product again.

JC! I think you'll really like these WnW Palettes. Although I still slightly favor their 6 color palettes (Lust, Greed, Pride, Vanity collections). Yeah sometimes you can get them at really great prices when they go on sale! ^.^

Jess: Aww you're so cute! You're very welcome. The lashes suit you so well. Especially those little criss cross ones! They look so pretty on you<3 But yeah I didn't know they'd hurt that bad! I've never had sensitivity before.. I think it's the fact that it was such a long time with them on, you know? But yeah I wasn't a fan of the crackle application ;( If I try the black one I'll let you know how it works out. I think it's supposed to be much better! Thanks for stopping by, pretty girl.<33

Great post! I love reading the good and bad about products. Sorry to hear what happened to you with the white strips, I know to stay far away from them now!

Also to answer your questions from my blog post, I LOVE the sally hansen strips for eyebrows it's all I use them for. I've been using them for years now and find they're the best ones for me, I cut the strips down to size and to fit right under the arch of my brow instead of leaving it straight that way you get it all the way up under your brow. They take off all the little stubborn hairs that are always a pain to pluck.

As for the UDPP I find that a little bit is best to use, what you get when you pull out the wand is definitely enough for both eyes. I found this out with trial and error, it seemed like if I used all of that for one eye it wasn't as effective as using just a little to cover the whole area. Also it dries fast as I'm sure you know but I always hurry and apply to one eye, blend it in then move on to the next eye. I hope that helped! :)

Sandy thank you! Umm I'm not sure, girl. My cousin told me the purple is to keep blondes from being yellow & that the blue shampoo is to keep blonde from getting orange. Greenish brown sounds interesting though!! Is it like an ash brown? Because I've died mine like that & it looked greenish lol but you're right it was so pretty & I didn't want the red tones either. I want to see your hair though, now I'm curious to see if it's how I'm thinking lol :P

Neeyuh thanks so much for your insight! I think I'm going to try the eyebrow strips. & Thanks so much for the primer potion tip <3 I'm going to try it that way now. I was using most of the product on one eye lol.

Dinah!! Thank you girl! Aww that sucks. ;( I hope so too! I think you'll like the Smog color. It's one of my favorites & the velvet packaging is awesome!! lol It feels so nice.

Thanks Christine!! I can't wait til I get it! Thanks again, beautiful <3

Omg Jesa, isn't it amazing! & I love that it's hydrating & NOT greasy. It's so perfect. Thank you for your sweet comment, darling <3

Jaysface it's perfect! Great quality at a great price! & Since they're purples, I think they go great with all kinds of skintones which is awesome for summer tans. haha <3

MSodapop wow! I hope so too & thanks for keeping me posted. I'll look out for your reaction on it 'cause conceal&treat sounds like a pretty sweet deal!
